THE PROCESS OF PRODUCTION
The script is to a video/film what a blueprint is to a house. It forces us to focus on what's being promoted (and what's not) and specifically to who. When finalized, it will tell us the running time and how much it will cost. Not a single word in the script can be superfluous. Every line must, in as few words as possible, either develop "character" or move the story towards its intended conclusion. This methodology is the same for everything from a thirty second spot to a two hour feature film. The script, and much more, is finalized during the most important phase of production, PREPRODUCTION.
The "magic" happens during PRODUCTION, where we execute the plan (film the script). This is obviously a very important phase but it is often over emphasized (because of egos) at the expense of preproduction. It also can be grueling, as renown director, Jane Campion once said, "This demands EVERYTHING of you, so to get through it, you better have fun."
One common mistake is to let the budget trip you up. If money is an issue (When isn't it?), then a clever/creative plan must be hatched during preproduction to deliver an effective piece while still maintaining high production value. The plan can NEVER be to film something we can't afford and to try make up the difference by skimping, and rushing production.
Lastly is POSTPRODUCTION, where we lovingly assemble our content. As we edit, you will get updates, clips, scenes, titles, color tests, and/or animation regularly sent to you for approval. Other words, you will be part of the process as it comes together. We usually leave the first-cut a little long so you can see all the best content in context. Then we do as Michaelangelo advised... "Art is the elimination of that which is not necessary."
Then, after all the music, bells AND whistles are tightly woven into our lean, mean, and effective presentation, that will wow your target audience.
